Proserpina (Greek: Persephone) is the Roman goddess of springtime growth, vegetation, and the underworld, symbolizing the cycle of seasons through her myth of abduction by Pluto and return to her mother, Ceres (Demeter). She is Queen of the Underworld, often depicted with a pomegranate, torch, or grain, representing the balance between life (spring/summer with Ceres) and death/renewal (winter in the underworld with Pluto).
